What is going on
The main sewer carries everything the house sends out. When it narrows, the first sign is usually the lowest drain in the house acting up. That might be a downstairs tub, a shower, or a floor drain. Roots entering at joints are the most common cause, followed by flushed wipes, grease, and sags where the pipe has settled and collects sludge. On older properties, the line may be clay or cast iron that has scaled or cracked. Clearing restores flow. Finding the cause keeps it that way.
What we check
- 01
Cleanout location
Most homes have one near the foundation. If yours is buried or missing, we find another way in.
- 02
Backup pattern
Which fixtures are affected and when, to locate the trouble spot.
- 03
Debris recovered
Roots, paper, grease or soil on the cutting head.
- 04
Distance to the blockage
Measured on the cable so a camera or repair can target the spot.
- 05
Flow confirmation
Several toilets flushed and tubs drained to prove the line runs clear.
Your options
Cable with cutting head
Roots and paper blockages in a line that is structurally sound.
Hydro jet
Heavy grease, sludge or dense root masses that a cable cannot fully clear.
Clean plus camera
Repeat backups where you need to know if a repair is coming.
Before we get there
Stop using water in the whole house. Every flush and shower adds to the backup. If sewage has come up into a tub or floor drain, keep kids and pets away from it. Look for the cleanout cap outside and clear brush or mulch off it.
