What is going on
Kitchen lines clog with grease that cools and coats the pipe until food scraps stick to it. Bathroom lines clog with hair and soap. Main lines are a different animal. They choke on roots, wipes, sagging sections, and scale inside cast iron. If one fixture is slow, the problem is close to that fixture. If several drains back up at once, especially the lowest tub or shower, the main line is the suspect and needs attention now.
What we check
- 01
Which drains are affected
One fixture or many. That tells us branch line or main line.
- 02
Cleanout access
Location of the outdoor cleanout so we can work without pulling a toilet.
- 03
What comes back on the cable
Grease, hair, roots or paper. The debris tells the story.
- 04
Flow after clearing
We run water hard to confirm the line really drains.
- 05
Camera recommendation
If roots or a repeat clog show up, we suggest a look inside the line.
Your options
Cable or snake
Most sink, tub and toilet clogs. Fast and effective.
Main line clearing
Whole-house backups from roots, wipes or buildup in the sewer line.
Hydro jetting
Grease-packed or root-filled lines where a cable only punches a hole.
Before we get there
Stop running water to the slow drain and anything near it. Skip the chemical cleaners. If they are sitting in the pipe when we open it, it makes the job hazardous. If you know where the outdoor cleanout is, clear around it.
